Truth
I was reading an article about "Positive Points" which ignited my thoughts on this.
Truth - Its very powerful. We always say one need to be Truthful in his say, in his writing or in his actions. In India we always site Mahatma Gandhi as an example to explain Truth. We also talk about Sita when we say how "Truthful" she was to Lord Rama. We also talk about "(H)Arichandra(n) while we talk about truth. But the two examples I am giving here doesn't involve any of these big names but it gives you a very powerful message about Truth.
First One. (Article By Mr. Niranjan in Kumudam on Positive Point)
In this article , he talks about a father & son going to an exhibition where the tickets were sold on two categories . For adults it is Rs.10/- and for the Kids (below 6years) is Rs.8/- . His son was eight years old but he doesn't look like an eight year old, where as he looks like a five year old. The father buys two adults ticket and the person at the counter is surprised that why he is taking tickets for two adults and ask the person to take one adult and one kid ticket. The father says he is 8 years. The person at the counter says, no issue as he doesn't look like that and you are not going to be in trouble because of this.
But the father replies as saying " I don't want my son to feel that just for the sake of two rupees , I am telling a lie and it will set a bad precedence for him when he grow" . It stops here.
I feel , the concerned father would not have been able to get what ever things his son would have want, but definetely he has laid a strong foundation for his son's future "
What a powerful message this article has carried. We the parents as a Role Model to our kids , we should first try to be truthful to ourselves and we should impart the same at the grass root level , i.e. right from the time when our kids start understanding what we say , what they see or what they read.
Second One. ( This is from the Interaction I had with my friend Mr. Kuppusamy, Inspector of Police ) I was requesting my freind to share some of the unforgettable incidents in his career and he stated this.
There was a murder that took place and a hearing was going on in the court in connection with that. The adults who has seen the murder were not willing to tell the truth due to obvious reasons and the police force was finding it tough to prove the case. There came the angel of "Truth". A kid aged about 6 years who has witnessed the horror voluntarily came forward to the police station and asked the concerend officials in the station , that you have invited only my father to the court as a witness where as I was also a witness to the horror and why you have not invited me? This question has put the constable in a fix in that station and he has checked up with my friend how to proceed on this. My friend has told his colleague to take the kid to the court. When all the witnesses has failed to tell convincingly about the incident, this kid was asked to tell the court as witness.
The Judge , by knowing the age of the kid wanted to understand from the kid , whether he is sound enough to make a statement in a court.
The Honourable Judge has asked the kid , " What do you mean as Truth and What do you mean as Lie?"
The kid has spontaneously replied "Sir, Whatever we see through our naked eye is true and what ever we couldn't see with our naked eye is lie"
The Honourable Judge was quite impressed with the statement and took him as a witness and the case was proved against the accused and they were awarded 14 years of imprisonment.
What a powerful statement the kid has made.? Imagine the kid is from a village and doesn't have proper education. So who has thought the kid the Truth? Infact no one. It is in built in him. "Truth is inbuilt in every Kids". But we the elders start polluting them and inject virus in their nest. So, if, we the elders show more seriousness and responsibility while handling our kids , we can make a brighter and truthful society.
I love Dr. Abdul Kalam and I follow his advise and I dream for this to happen.
Ragu.
