Million Dreams
I am an ardent cricket fan. During my child hood days , I used to play indoor cricket and when I was in School and college, I used to breathe cricket. After I started my career, slowly my passion towards the game faded away and now I oddly see matches.
Cricket played 3 decades ago or cricket played two decades ago is totally different from what is being played now. No media hype during those days. I could oddly remember one add featuring Kapil for " Boost is the secret of my energy". ( I think Kapil has not shared his secret probably to our current Indian Team!!!) I oddly came across hearing of a bowling coach, batting coach, fielding coach or a technical analyst or a physio. Now you hear all these.
Our Indian team, carried with them millions of dreams from their fellow countrymen. But what happened to their dreams? Everybody feels dejected and agitated now.
Who has to be blamed for this? Only we! We the public are expecting too much from our guys. Our expectation levels are too high. I lost my love for the game when I first heared of betting in cricket. Today we are not sure what is happening in the cricketing world and already news are floating in different directions on Bob Wolmers death. Cricket once called as a "Gentle Man" game , now losing its status of being called as a "Gentle Man" game. The so called "Gentle Man" game has lost a "Gentle Man by name Bob Wolmer" for the game and by the game. People also attribute Hansie Cronje's death to betting related issues.
Let those of us who live in this generation , realise that we are all wasting our energy and time on this game which is now no way played for its passion , but just for building ones own empire. (If we don't put a stop to this, you will soon hear the individual players declaring their quarterly results !!!) Lets not put our kids into this game and rather make them in to other field games or in athletics and lets now move away from our dream of India winning the world cup to India winning medals at Olympics.
Let's look for more of Sania, Vishwanathan Anand and Rathore, in our country rather than looking for the likes of Sachin, Dhoni and Shewag.
Let's dream of India emerging as a front runner in the field of Athletical Sports and lets stop dreaming of any more on our cricket heros.
To dream is important , but let us dream which is "important" to one's life.
Let's converge and dream on our honourable president vision of "India 2020" rather than wasting our time and dreams on India playing a "20 20" match.
Let's start valuing our dreams.
