An Indian Ambitions - A Thought

In India there are now three tiers of people , after the two tiers made their way out. Thanks to Globalisation & the growth of IT & BPO industry which has played a greater role in moving this two tiers out from the list. Do you know what is that ? It is lower middle class & middle class society.

The current tier is :
  1. High Class
  2. Upper Middle Class
  3. Low Income or Poor .

People in India , normally have 4 major ambitions / dreams in their life.

  1. Purchasing a Vehicle (First two wheeler & on a later stage 4 wheeler)
  2. Constructing a house
  3. Marrying their Daughters / Son
  4. To become Grandparents

If you classify this four ambitions / dreams , the first one is a "Dream" as it comes first , the second one is an "ambition", the third one is construed to be a "Duty" and the fourth one is a "Wish". So every Indian has a dream, an ambition, a duty & a wish.

All this four are not a big thing to an upper class guy ,where as it is a big thing to the next two tier category of Upper Middle Class & Poor.

If you look at the first two ambitions of an Indian, following is the current day status

People in India today can purchase what ever they want , just by flashing their credit card or by getting a loan from banks & financial company. Gone are those days in India , where one has to book a Scooter and wait for months for allotment and there are period where scooters & cars were sold in premium in this country. Today it has taken a "U" turn. A Scooter or a Car is delivered at your doorstep with filled fuel for your first journey. If this is the case for getting a vehicle , getting an house is also made easy thanks to Flats ranging from "Match Box "type to a "Play Ground" Size where matches will be played. You get hundreds of calls from Financial Institutions / Banks ( Some of them we are not even convenient of Pronouncing their names) and they are at your doorsteps to see that you are given the money and you get a flat. The days may come (not too long!!!) , that these financial institutions or banks will relieve you of your headache of conducting a house warming ceremony and then shifting your household articles from your rented house to your own house .

In todays world of 20th Century , every Indian can proudly say that he or she has been able to succeed in their first two ambitions.

I don't want to comment on the fourth one as it is only a "Wish" and I strongly belive it has to have the blessings of God as any wish can only be answered by God.

My concern is only on the third and important ambition of getting their daughter or son married. This is seen as a "Duty" of every Indian Parent. Even in this 20th century still we hear about dowry deaths , groom not willing to tie the knot for XYZ reasons.

In an Upper Middle Class family , to marry one's daugther ( assuming a decent marriage and as per today's logic of a decent marriage) today one has to have or shell out roughly six lakhs and the break up is given below.

  • Gold Jwells (25 Soverigns) - 1.60 lakhs
  • Diamond Ear Ring - 0.50 lakhs
  • Clothings to bride, groom,family & relatives - 1.00 lakh
  • Hire Charges Marriage Hall - 0.50 lakhs
  • Food Expenses - 2.00 lakhs
  • Other expenses like card printing,gifts to attendee's etc - 0.5o lakhs

This expense is atleaset managable in case of only one daugther a family. If there is more than one , then its a tough task for the head of the family and if the age difference is less than two between them , then the Head of the Family has to really sweat it out for managing this fund. The duty of a parent just doesn't end there . They have to take care of the first one year rituals, taking care of delivery and so on. Its a never ending story. In short its a "Mega Serial" in which you can predict certain things easily , then you go in to a confusion mode, will shell out tears, you will have some laugh but not the last laugh.

Can we think any of the following things happening in future?

  1. Entire Marriage Expenses Shared by both the bride as well as bride groom family equally?
  2. Just a simple marriage with invitations limited only to relatives.
  3. A marrige getting solemnised in the presence of just both the family members present for the marriage. (Having marriage in one's own house)
  4. Just an electronic update to inform the friends or the general public saying that so and so has tied the knot and has started their family life.

I feel , currently people are really overspending on marriages , just to create an illussionary image in the minds of their freinds & relatives or to just show off.

What is the mileage we are getting out of this so called marriage functions? Nothing. We are fooling our own selves by getting into a debt trap, wasting every one's time , wasting natural resources & energy. Inspite of the male , female ratio in India , why still girls are waiting to get married even at the age of 30 or 35? Why there are so many " Horoscope Exchange Sites or Office" . Is there a system available in any other country like this?

Let every Indian understands the third duty is really a tough one and be bold enough to revolutionise this present system.

Given that , we have only 2003 hours or 83 days or 2 .69 months remaining,

Will you agree on the following?

2 .Money is not the ultimate in this world

3 .No need for Ego

1 .Even this 2003 hours or 83 days or 2.69 months is not certain

2 .We can have a Life Time Prepaid Card but do you or do we have a life?

3 .There is a gurantee for almost all products & services and there is an AMC also that follows, once the warranty expires. But there is no guarntee or warranty for a human life and if it (life) expires there is no AMC to take care

Let's say to our selves that:

1 .I will share & care for every one

2 .I will lead a meaningful life

3 .I will enjoy every bit of my life and more importantly I will make sure that it is passed on to everyone

4 .I will never hurt any one

5 .I will do good for this soceity

Goddess of Justice is Awake & Alert in India

Its a time of pride for every Indian Citizen to feel proud to be part of this beautiful world's largest democracy.

In a landmark judgement today, the Apex Body of India (Supreme Court) has indicted the Governor of Bihar for misleading the council of ministers and declaring president's rule in Bihar.

This judgement assures us that in India , the Goddess of Justice still exists in India to protect the proud citizens of this country.

But who is going to bear the cost of having an election with in a short span of six months that too, twice? What is the Government going to do? Will they refund this money back to the tax payer? Just by asking the Governor to go or resign is not going to make a big change. Accountability has to be fixed.

I feel very sorry for the First Citizen of India , who has a great vision to make India a Developed country has been put into a great embarassement.

Day light Kidnapping

Its a real shame that in 20th Century, in a democratic country which has a well established Judicial System , Open Kidnappings are happening and no one is having the guts (especially the press ) to raise the same. Press in India , either supports a political party or just creates sensation just to acheive their sales target for the month.

It is really sad , in broad day light , the elected represantatives of an assembly are shunted from place to place just to avoid horse trading.

What the following Authorities are doing?

  1. Judiciary
  2. CVC (Cheif Vigilance Commission)
  3. Police Force

Do you feel something will happen in this country in this regard?

India Vs Pakistan

It is really sad that Shewag & Dravid couldn't break the existing world record. But their efforts is laudable.

I appreciate the words of Dravid , " We should enjoy what we did rather than worry about what did not happen" What a true word?

We always feel sad or get dissappointed with things which have not gone in our favour . We should try to satisfy ourselves with the efforts we have made to reach a task or a goal, which should be a motivating factor for reaching the task or finishing the goal in a better & best way than our first attempt.

Hats off to Dravid & Shewag.

Loss Of Human Lifes

I am planning to do on my own an awareness campaign starting in important petrol bunks by holding banner / placards for about couple of hours on imporatance of Road Safety.

whats your opinion on this?

If Any one interested to join me in this campaign , please let me know.
